hi ... tom :) you know … you know ... i just love talking about mountains :D :hug:

SNOW in tatras ...
snow in tatras looks so great ... still you have to have equipment in the higher parts ... for the contrast with my summer photo [link] you can see for example this winter one [link] :) these are the same peaks (the nearest is called RAKOŃ) ... but in the mirror reflection ... :) dont you think this looks great ??:D:D:D the video from RAKOŃ  [link] (PS: I like this website … I really do :D)
by snow in may i understand the frozen but melting snow ... so in a one word: slippy cover ... and not so nice …

SHELTERS ...
i have just read that overnight stays within tatras national park are allowed only in the shelters ... mhm ... there are some who doesnt obey the rule :D ... but the rule is the rule ... :D
as i remember we have eight shelters in polish part of mountains ... prices can extensively differ …... cost depends also on the season ... mainly you should book the place (the bed) earlier... it is quite often that the shelter doesnt give the chance to sleep "on the floor" as we call it ... rooms available: from rooms for two or even for seventeen people ... so you know :) booking is better :D
English page with telephone numbers to shelters you can find here: [link] Page with interactive map of shelters … unfortunately in polish  here: [link]
Here you have more specific information about three from those 8 shelters:
The hut which you liked in my photo is 5 minutes from the shelter called “Murowaniec” … [link]
Two photos of summer and winter peaks which I put in the first paragraph were taken in “dolina chochołowska” (polish name of the valley) … the shelter looks like that: [link]
Over „Morskie Oko” (one of great lakes which name I would translate to “The sea eye”) we have something like that: [link] ... “morskie oko” lies in a half of hour from “czarny staw” (the deepest lake in tatras – 78 metres of depth) … “czarny staw” lies at the foot of Rysy (the highest peak) … two lakes together seen from the top look like that :  [link] i have never seen them from this perspective … but I’m going to change that … definitely going to change that :D
Dolina pięciu stawów (5 ponds valley  [link]) has its shelter looking like that: [link]
OH … i would forget … polish area telephone code is “+48” ….

YOUR PAINTING :D
GREAT … I CANT WAIT :D

well... photorealism is only one optional way of "acting" the art ...

your technic is so eyecatching becacause of some sort of simplicity and regularity which is performed on your canvas ...

 Heyy Kath!!! You do love mountains yes, but your also blessed by living in such a wonderful place!! Yes thatīs true. You need some good and warm gear for the winter time. Boots, socks etc and much more. Its more difficult to go backpacking during winter, than summer. Been camping myself all year round on and off since i was 18 or so, in both Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Setting up tents and bivuaks here and there. Cycling from 80 to a little over 100 KM each weekend, when i was younger:-)You say that one can only stay in those hotels / shelters? No outside camping over the open campfire? [link] darn it!! I am not much for such places. When is going backpacking out in the nature then one should also sleep by the campfire i think. That is indeed a great website:-):-) Love the panorama view:-):-) Cant wait to see some new pics from you of the Tatras!!! Gonna submit the pic of the painting today. Its not photorealistic, but its as close as i can do it with my current skill level lol.

Hugs Tommy :-)

SLEEPING outside shelters ... i will explore the topic ... in tatras there are plenty of empty huts ... many from them however has its historical value .... but the rest ... the rest is empty ... i'll find out and give the message ....

Tatras has only one disadvantage .... which i have missed ... the are very very popular ... what equals to crowded ... :/ especially in the summer ...

bike? is that so? such long distance? my longest on the bike is 70 km but within one day ... like for a girl it's quite impressive :D dont you think :D

the website with camping places you have shown me ... WOW ... i will show them my friends ... it looks very comfortable ... so easy idea ... but so helpful ...

my website with panoramas ... it delivers panoramas from many diiferent moutains ... the list with tatras peaks you can find here: [link] ... under the map there is placed the list of interactive peaks names ... someties when i'm sitting and working i take this page and watch .... where i could be in the moment when i'm in the office :):D:D:D the grey peak on your painting in the center is as i believe slovakian rohac .... i havent been there but the view is superb :) --> [link] it said to be difficult mountain ....
and this [link] this is my first view of my summer hollidays this year :)

hugs to you too :)

Thanks Kath!!! :-) sleeping outside is the best way when you are backpacking!!!:-) Yeah i can imagine them being crowded, the way the area looks like!!:-) With the beauty and all i am not surprised, but the tatras is a big place compared to the places we got in Denmark, so there has got to be some places that aint too crowded. Wow 70 Km on one day!! Thats really impressive yes!!!:-):-) Tuff gal iīd say!! I once slept in minus 25 degrees in a shelter like that, in midwinter in Sweden. They are quite good to sleep in!! Wow it looks absolutely beautiful!!! You really got some fantastic places there!!
